Meet Bekah
What lead you into photography?
When I first started college after I graduated I wanted to go into radiology, but the program was tough to get into. So after a few years I thought I would go into teaching, but I didn't feel that it was the correct fit. I was always interested in pictures and the whole process, so my interest really sparked once I had my girls. I love the flexiblity I have with owning my own business: It allows me to be home with my girls while still being able to help provide for my family!
How long have you been doing it, and what is your specialty?
I graduated high school in 2006 and shot my first couple of sessions in 2009. I then got this crazy ideal that I wanted to start a business in 2014 and from there it sorta took off. I consider my specialty people. I also enjoy sports photography when I get the chance.
What inspires you?
My family first and formost inspires me to try my hardest each and every shoot. I also, have a couple of photographer friends that I can go to when I need advice, or need to bounce an idea off of.
What are you currently working on?
I'm currently working on a family shoot and a senior session.
What are some things you would say to beginners?
I would tell beginners to never give up on their dreams no matter how big or small they may be.
What has photography taught you?
Photography has taught me how to overcome situations that are out of my comfort zone. For example meeting new people, or not being shy about people seeing my work.
What distinguishes you from other photographers in your area?
I believe me treating my clients as family, and letting my clients know that they can come to me about an idea and I will try everything in my power to make it happen.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bekah in a Pretty Presets forum, and we've become internet buds and critique each other's work. It's always so good to be able to chat with other Photographers and get their feedback! Bekah has a heart of gold and my favorite thing about her as a Photographer is she uses it to reach out to her community and really help people. She also does a lot of shoots for people in terminal situations to give their posterity photos for memories they can cherish forever. If you would like to see more of her work, check out her website. As always, thanks for reading!
