I'm so excited to share images from a new cake smash theme I am offering! I had a client come to me with the idea of a "Wild One" theme, and I was in love! I started researching some props and backdrops just to see how other children's photographers handled it, and I just melted at the cuteness. Of course I used some common threads when making and picking out props such as the teepee, feathers, wood stumps, etc, but I crafted the set up to be unique to my style. This particular set up would be for a boy, and I'll soon begin working on a set up for girls! All of the cake smash sessions I offer are customizable to your child or your desired color scheme, so hit me up, tell me your colors, inspiration, or even additional elements, and we will work together to achieve the look you are going for in your child's cake smash session!
The wonderful thing about set ups like this is they don't necessarily have to be for a cake smash session. This could be turned into a newborn wild one session or even a toddler wild one session!
Cake Smash Session Information
I require all cake smash sessions to be done in the studio or outdoors for easy set up and clean up, plus you really don't want cake thrown all over your living room!
Cake smash sessions start at $250. If it's an easy set up for me where I don't have to buy too many props or I already have your theme available, then there won't be an additional fee. If I have to start from scratch on a particular theme or I have to change a lot of the set up to achieve your desired look, there will be an additional fee.
Before your cake smash session go ahead and gather your materials. You are required to bring your cake, cake topper, candles, etc, and your child's bubble bath/soap. I provide a pail, rubber duckies, and bubbles, and at the end of the session your baby can get nice and clean all while being photographed by me! It's like 2 sessions in 1.
Cake Smash Sessions generally tend to run from 1-2 hours depending on temperament of your child.
Wear OLD CLOTHES!! You will inevitably get cake all over you, but it's all in good fun!
Most importantly-have fun! Cake smash sessions can sometimes be stressful for your 1 year old, and they can feed off of your energy. If the session doesn't seem to be going well for your child, just stay positive and calm. And please never feel like you have to apologize for your child's behavior or cake throwing. I've seen it all, and I'm happy to provide this service! I know that all children are different, all parenting styles are different, and I love the diversity and opportunity to work with you and your child!
Here are some pictures from Hunter's set up, and soon I'll post pictures from his session. I'm drooling with all of this cuteness! I made the teepee and cloth banner, my husband cut the stumps and I sanded them with my sister in law's help, and I wrote the chalkboard sign. The blackboard, arrows, feathers, cloth, cake topper, and animal fur are all from Hobby Lobby. The backdrops/floordrops are from Ink and Elm, and they are so amazing!
