The Bowen Twins Fall Themed Cake Smash!

Gabriel and Genevive turned 1 this month, and mom celebrated with a cake smash! This was also the first time they've had cake! Katie, their mother, made the beautiful cupcake cake herself, which I thought was impressive. Both parents came to the session, and it was a lot of family fun. Dad recorded the session on his phone and took care of one twin while mom helped to create laughs with the other twin. Little Gabriel does an "army crawl" where he crawls only with his arm

    Meet Jacqueline, The Pig Farmer!

I want to start this blog first by saying how much I LOVE my job! Before becoming a photographer I worked retail. Depending on what part of retail you're in you may have the ability to connect with people, make friends with your customers, and really get to know them. I did have that ability for many years as the Store Manager at our local Hot Topic. However, I was only ever able to meet a certain segment of people really, and the on-going connections were nothing like th

Jennifer + Scott's Dreamy Sunset Fine Art Engagement Session | Fort Mill, SC

Jennifer and Scott knew each other in High School. After many years apart, they reconnected years later as adults, and they were instantly in love! Their love is so absolutely evident in their engagement photos, and their happiness is catching! I'll be posting their wedding photos soon, too, but I've been quite behind lately! Jennifer and Scott's love is just beautiful, and in it they've brought 2 families together as each of them had their children in the wedding too! Bu

Hunter's Adorable Wild One Cake Smash Session

Hunter had such an inquisitive personality! He wanted to explore my studio more than he wanted to eat his cake! It was hard to get some smiles out of him, but part of my job as a Lifestyle or documentary children's photographer is to capture children just being children. I absolutely love every minute of that! Hunter's mother contacted me well in advance for her desires to have a Wild One themed Cake Smash Session, and we worked together by sending photos back and forth via

Glow Yoga at The Yoga Oasis | My Thoughts on Freetography | My Images Stolen

A couple of years ago I was asked to shoot a fundraising event called Shift Happens for The Yoga Oasis in Charlotte. This event was awesome! It was lead by Emily Bucks, a phenomenal yogini, and it really took you on a yoga journey. My only disappointment was the fact that I couldn't participate in the event! Everyone at the Yoga Oasis is so passionate about yoga, and I wouldn't recommend any other yoga studio over them! This was an unpaid shoot, but I was really excited abo

Pumpkin Stand Mini Sessions are here!

I can't wait to see all the cute kiddos this year whether they are dressed up in their Halloween costumes or decked out in their favorite fall attire! These mini's are perfect for children that are able to stand on their own and older. There is a limit of 3 per session. You may change your child at my home, but you must be on time for the session to begin. These sessions are short and sweet-perfect for the little ones with short attention spans. I will be getting close ups an

Help! I want good/quality wedding photography, but I need it to be cheap!

Congratulations! You're probably reading this because you just got engaged, and you value preserving your memories in an artful way. I wish you all the best on your new life together, whether I'm your photog or not! Many people starting out in life | adulthood | marriage are not the most well off, and a lot of times parents get the expenses of the wedding. That's totally understandable, and for those who are not fortunate enough to have parents that can and will do that, yo

Who is Going to Value Your Work if You Don't?

How much value do you place on your work? On yourself? How exactly do you place value on it? Everyone reading this is most likely a photographer or an artist, and you have a special skill set or talent coupled with a passion for art. In ways you are set apart from everyone else, and you have distinguishing characteristics within your work. That is priceless! No matter where you are on the scale below, you have contributions to be made in this world, and no one can put a

    Meet the Pope Family

The Pope's are Such a wonderful family! The just officially adopted their newest addition to the family in May, and they all couldn't be any happier. They wanted to celebrate as fast as possible and preserve the memories in a photo session. I am so blessed to be a part of such loving events! These photos were taken at Nim's Lake in Fort Mill, SC. One technical thing I would like to point out-if you look at the greens you will see a change from a warm, almost yellowish gr

Artist of the Month | Bekah Brown | Photographer Monticello KY | February 2016

Meet Bekah What lead you into photography? When I first started college after I graduated I wanted to go into radiology, but the program was tough to get into. So after a few years I thought I would go into teaching, but I didn't feel that it was the correct fit. I was always interested in pictures and the whole process, so my interest really sparked once I had my girls. I love the flexiblity I have with owning my own business: It allows me to be home with my girls while stil

    Lady Guinevere Graduates 8th Grade

My beautiful daughter graduated 8th grade, and is now a high schooler! Time has flown by. With these photos I chose a muted color palette with a little split toning. I wanted to achieve a look that says that time is passing in a vintage kind of way, but also to symbolize that she's turning into a woman. A classy young woman at that!! (And maybe a little sassy haha.) I love my children so much, and my daughter holds such a special place in my heart. She's maturing so grac

    Marti & John

Marti & John had a beautiful Southern Chic Wedding on their farm in McConnells, SC. They were a very fun and humble couple with a simple, yet elegant home wedding. The bride was so relaxed while the groom scrambled to finish everything outside their back door. I took the 2nd position for this wedding, so I've only included a few shots from this wedding in this post. The primary shooter ended up using my flash, so I was very nervous about the Bridal shots post-wedding, but

The Milky Way Over Maroon Bells in Colorado

The Milky Way over the beautiful Maroon Bells! Last fall my husband and I took a trip to Colorado, and part of my focus on this trip was to practice my astrophotography. We live in SC, and there is a LOT of light pollution on the east coast. Going out west was such an opportunity for me. Obviously this is not a great milky way image, but I'm still proud of it, because it is my first. I feel like it's a great starting point, because I could've started with a much worse im

How to Photograph People With Skin Imperfections or "Bad Skin"

As someone with "bad skin" I have tried many different combinations of things to achieve a natural image while also minimizing my blemishes and tones. No High School Senior wants to be remembered with that teenage acne! And absolutely no bride wants her wedding images ruined on account of her skin! Believe me, we who have bad skin know what we look like, and we want those photographing us to be miracle workers. Listen up photogs! Make-up Make-up needs to be discussed well be

10 Tips to Prepare for Your In-Home Newborn Photo Session

Newborn sessions generally need to be done within the first 10 days of his/her life to get that "sleepy curly" stage of life. It's a good idea to book your newborn session a few months in advance. This will give you time to find the perfect photographer for the job if you don't already have a trusted one that you work with. It's important to get this done in advance, so the the day or 2 after giving birth you can just call your photographer and schedule it. Most photograph
